Our Story
BE Education began in 2003 with a conversation between friends. While living in China, William and Emma Vanbergen were asked by a friend to help find a UK boarding school for their son. With Emma and William’s personalised guidance, that student gained admission to Stowe School—and from that first success, a bigger vision emerged.
What if more families across could access world-class British education—not just through placements, but through thoughtful, end-to-end support tailored to each child’s potential?
Since then, BE Education has become a trusted leader in the industry, with offices in Mainland China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, and the UK. Over the past 21 years, we’ve guided thousands of students to top-tier schools and universities like Eton, Harrow, and Oxbridge, preparing students academically and culturally for life abroad. Our close partnership with Wycombe Abbey has helped establish international schools in Changzhou, Hangzhou, Nanjing, and Hong Kong, positioning us as leaders in educational excellence across Asia.

William Vanbergen
Founder / Chairman
William Vanbergen, founder of BE Education Group, drives the company's strategic vision. An Eton graduate with a Management Science degree from Manchester University, he is an ambassador for the City of Manchester. William's entrepreneurial success has been widely recognized. In 2023, he was featured in the prestigious Hurun Report’s China U40 Top Entrepreneur list. His expertise in international education is frequently highlighted in major publications like The Financial Times, The Telegraph, and China Daily, showcasing his progressive ideas and industry insights.
Emma Vanbergen
Co-Founder / President of Study Abroad
Emma Vanbergen, Co-Founder of BE Education, oversees the study abroad division. She is a specialist in international education with nearly 20 years of experience as an education and training consultant. Emma's unmatched expertise guides complex cases and manages nine global offices, advising international families on overseas education. She has written columns for The Wall Street Journal and other publications.
Peter Broegger
Chief Operating Officer
Peter Broegger brings over 30 years of experience in growing and transforming businesses, building brands and shareholder value. Before joining BE Education, Peter worked for Mattel as Managing Director, Asia Pacific and Emerging Markets. Having lived and worked on multiple continents, Peter brings a global and diverse perspective on business operations, strategy and culture as well as talent, customer and consumer needs.
John Cheng
Chief Financial Officer
John Cheng oversees BE Education Group's financial aspects. John holds degrees from Chapman University, and he has managed investment programs across Hong Kong, China, and the UK across his 23 years in finance. John has previously worked in venture capital, private equity, state-owned enterprise, and tycoon family office, bringing a wealth of financial expertise to the team.
Ellen Xu
Executive Director of UK Education
Ellen Xu, a top expert in international education, has 15 years of experience with British school applications. She has successfully enrolled over 3000 students in prestigious schools and universities worldwide, including Eton, Harrow, Oxford, and Cambridge. Ellen leads a dedicated team ensuring student success.
Raff Flackett
UK Director
Raff Flackett, an Eton graduate with a degree in Russian Studies from Durham University. He has taught English in Moscow and Uzbekistan, and served as an educational adviser for disadvantaged children based in London. Raff joined BE Education Group in 2014 and has since helped families with educational pathways across Britain, ensuring students realize their full potential.
